Thank you for
listening to Rumor Mill News Radio on
We hope we have the audio feed that
fits your need. There are two Media players for those of you who are
using dial up connections. We have a 16 kbps Media player at the top of
the page.
We also have an 8 kbps windows Media
player audio feed at the lower level for those of you who have a poor
dial up connection and wish to listen to our program.
Also we have in mp3 additional
higher feeds starting at 24kbps which in some cases can be used with an
excellent dial up connection. Other feeds such as 56kbps and 64kbps
require high speed connections such as cable or DSL and wireless. We
hope that one of these feeds can provide you with a quality listening
experience.

If at any time you are experiencing
frequent drop out try re-setting your buffer settings. Most buffer
settings are set at a 6 sec default. which means you only have 6 sec's
of audio loaded in your computer at any time. If there is a glitch in
your connection it drops the feed. Reset your buffer at 60 seconds and
it gives the player a chance to catch up if a glitch occurs. Keep in
mind that it will take a little longer coming up at first because it is
loading 60 sec's of audio and not 6.
Windows Media Player: Go to tools
at the top of the page and click, then down to "options" and click. A
larger box will open and all you need to do now is click on
"performance". In the middle of the box you will see "network
buffering".... click on buffer and enter your change of settings there
at 60 sec's and click at the bottom APPLY.... your done!
Real Player: Go to tools at the top,
then drop down and choose "preferences", this will open the general page
which has a list of things down the left side. Here you want to click on
the word "connection". You will notice in the middle of that box is
"network time-out" ..... On this player you can set your connection at
120 seconds which of course is 2 minutes. That means your player loads 2
minutes of audio before it starts to play, so be patient. Set your
server at 190 seconds and you are good to go! Again.... the reason for
doing this is to have plenty of audio feed in the computer so that if a
feed glitch drops your audio it has time to catch back up and you never
knew it happened.
All players have these type of
settings, this should give you a general idea how to find them to create
a better listening experience on your computer
