He currently consults on legal cases involving police abuse, brutality, and misconduct by public officials. Richard collaborates with other members of the law enforcement community in speaking out in favor of drug policy reform.

From 1994-97, Richard and six other sheriffs from around the U.S. were involved in a states’ rights case where they openly challenged federal officials’ attempts to enforce provisions (e.g., mandatory background checks) contained in the Brady Bill. Citing the 10th Amendment as a basis for its landmark decision, the U.S. Supreme Court voted 5-4 in their favor.

Ed Corsi is the founder of the Geauga Constitutional Council, a grassroots organization based in Northeast Ohio that encourages individuals to make a positive impact by becoming involved with political issues at the local level. Ed recently invited Richard Mack to be the keynote speaker at a forum event sponsored by the council, and he will describe how all of us can form similar groups in our area.

Richard Mack served for almost 20 years in law enforcement, including two terms as sheriff of Graham County, Arizona.
