John Wasik and Phillip Parrish discuss their book of fiction about a terrorist plot

Retired police officers John Wasik and Phillip Parrish co-authored a book of fiction called Throwing Stones that is based on their experience in law enforcement.

Wasik retired from the Stow Police Department and holds degrees in Criminal Justice and Education. Parrish retired from the Cleveland Police Department as a Lieutenant, where he commanded the Narcotics Unit. They have 54 years of combined experience in law enforcement and developed the idea for the book while working together at the Office Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation for the Ohio Attorney General.

THROWING STONES

A German investigator uncovers a terrorist plot targeting America’s Heartland. Will he be able to prevent the launching of a thousand human stones? Detective Thomas Freiderich learns half-Arab nephew Jusef and Iraqi friend Ali have gone missing.

As he tracks them to Ohio and enlists aid from two Cleveland Police colleagues, he is reacquainted with unforgettable Officer Mary Alice. While searching the city streets, clues point to the mastermind of the cell, code-named Lizard. “This cunning enemy, Tarik Lazar changed my life forever.”

This story demonstrates the vulnerability of democratic societies to well-planned terrorist attacks. Throwing Stones also illustrates the value of international police cooperation in the war against terrorism. The reader is taken into the world of narcotics, illegal border crossings, espionage, murder and arson, intertwined with terrorist operations that divide families along bloodlines and ideologies.
