Joni Dahlstrom’s Bio
The former wife of a Brit who was heir to a large gambling fortune, Joni Dahlstrom traveled the world extensively and hobnobbed with royalty. Later, she served as Regent for the National Federation of Republican Women. Employed as a web designer and public relations specialist, Dahlstrom came up with the idea of starting the Tea Party in Arizona and set up an organization that helps local residents learn how to take back control of what they eat.

Wild Free-Roaming Horses and Burros Act of 1971
Public Law 92-195
The Wild Free-Roaming Horses and Burros Act was passed unanimously by Congress and signed by President Nixon on December 15, 1971. This law mandates that wild horses and burros within designated territories on both Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management lands are managed in a thriving ecological balance with the land and are part of the natural landscape.

As of February of 2007, the Bureau of Land Management estimated that there were 28,500 wild horses and burros on lands that they managed. It is likely that there are fewer than 25,000 horses and fewer than 5000 burros left on 34 million acres of public land managed by the BLM. That’s one horse for every 1360 acres!

Thanks To Obama and Congress, Horse Slaughter Is Again Legal In US

During the (2008) campaign, Obama co-signed a bill banning horse slaughter in the US and was asked, “Will you support legislation … to institute a permanent ban on horse slaughter and exports of horses for human consumption“? He answered in the affirmative.
The following article hints at the underlying reason why the horse slaughter ban was lifted last month: oil and gas companies want to use this land occupied by wild horses and burros to engage in fracking activities.

I will confess, I did not attend the public vigil for the 40th Anniversary of the Free Roaming Wild Horse and Burro Act because I am heartbroken. Someone contacted me more than five weeks ago who had evidence proving the cattle–not the wild horses–are damaging the range in the Calico Complex but they are holding back.
Most of the majestic Calico wild horses have been rounded up and torn from their families but they have not all been processed and shipped out to long-term holding…not yet.
I lit a candle on December 15th praying that the person with the evidence would come forward so we could prove this roundup was conducted under false pretenses and return the Calico wild horses and burros to their wild homes.
Please join me to light candle for their freedom.
